Bulk Bag of Logs FAQs
1. How Big Are Your Bulk Bags of Kiln-Dried Logs?
Our bulk bags are approximately 85 x 85 x 85cm, and they hold approximately 0.7 m³ of logs. They are roughly equivalent to two of our smaller barrow bags.
2. What Size Are the Logs in the Bulk Bag?
Our kiln-dried oak and hardwood logs are between 8 and 12 inches in length. They are suitable for a wide range of uses, including wood-burning stoves, multi-fuel stoves, fireplaces, firepits and pizza ovens.
4. What Are Kiln-Dried Logs?
Kiln-dried logs have been dried in a heated, temperature-controlled kiln, rather than left to air dry naturally like seasoned logs. The kiln-drying process reduces the moisture content in the logs to below 20%, which helps the firewood burn hotter and for longer.
5. Why Choose Kiln-Dried Logs Over Seasoned Firewood?
Kiln-dried firewood is the gold standard for log burners, wood-burning stoves and a wide range of other uses. The kiln-drying process results in a much lower moisture content, which produces a much higher heat output, less smoke and a more efficient burn. Seasoned logs tend to burn for a shorter time, meaning you need to use more of them to produce the same amount of heat.
6. How Should I Store My Bulk Bag of Logs?
Although our bulk bags are vented, we recommend that the logs be removed from the bulk bag and stored appropriately so that they get adequate ventilation. Kiln-dried logs should ideally be stored in a dry, indoor environment with low humidity or a covered, well-ventilated outdoor log store.
If you’re storing them indoors, you should ensure your logs are elevated off the ground to allow for plenty of air circulation. If you have the space, a purpose-built log store is the best location to store your kiln-dried logs. It will protect your logs from the elements while also allowing for plenty of ventilation. Wherever you’re storing your logs, we recommend stacking them in a crisscross pattern for better airflow and stability.
7. What Are the Benefits of Buying Bulk Bags of Logs?
Our bulk bags of logs are so popular because they are a convenient and cost-effective way to purchase your kiln-dried firewood. It’s usually much cheaper than buying in smaller quantities, plus our bulk bags include free local delivery to Sheffield, Chesterfield and the Hope Valley, making them an incredibly convenient choice.
8. How Long Does a Bulk Bag of Logs Last?
How long your bulk bag of logs lasts will depend on how often you use your wood-burning stove or light a fire:
- If you use your appliance or fireplace once or twice a week, your bulk bag might last up to 3 months.
- If you use your appliance or fireplace every day, your bulk bag will likely only last around 3 or 4 weeks.
- More frequent usage or multiple fireplaces/appliances means you might only get a few weeks out of your bulk bag.
9. Are Your Bulk Bags Ready to Burn Certified?
Yes, all our kiln-dried firewood at Westdale Logs is Ready to Burn certified with a moisture content below 20%. However, typically the moisture content is slightly lower than this, usually around 18%. Ready to Burn certification means the logs in our bulk bags can be burnt in compliance with Air Quality Regulations and can be used in Smoke Control areas such as Sheffield, Chesterfield and Buxton close to the Peak District.
10. Where Do You Deliver Your Bulk Bags of Logs To?

Our unique vented bulk bags encourage airflow and prevent your kiln-dried logs from accumulating too much moisture.
