Barrow Bag of Kiln-Dried Logs FAQs
1. What Size Are Your Barrow Bags of Kiln-Dried Logs?
Our compact and convenient barrow bags are approximately 46cm x 46cm x 87cm with a rough volume of 185L, and they hold approximately 0.3 m3 of logs. If you’re looking for a larger quantity of logs, we would recommend our bulk bags, which are roughly equivalent to 2 of our barrow bags.
2. What Size Are the Logs in the Barrow Bag?
Our kiln-dried oak and hardwood logs are between 8 and 12 inches in length. They are suitable for a wide range of uses, including wood-burning stoves, multi-fuel stoves, fireplaces, firepits and pizza ovens.
3. What Types of Wood Are Available in a Barrow Bag?
We offer both our popular mix of hardwood and our premium oak logs in convenient barrow bags, which are easy to move and store. Our Napoli-style kiln-dried pizza oven logs are also available in our compact barrow bags.
4. What Are Kiln-Dried Logs?
Kiln-dried logs have been dried in a temperature-controlled kiln, unlike seasoned logs, which are air-dried. This kiln-drying reduces the logs' moisture content to below 20%, resulting in firewood that burns hotter, cleaner and for a longer duration.
5. Why Choose Kiln-Dried Logs Over Seasoned Firewood?
If you’re looking for a strong, clean and consistent burn, kiln-dried firewood is the best choice. Because it’s dried in a temperature-controlled kiln, kiln-dried firewood has much lower moisture than seasoned firewood. Kiln-dried logs tend to burn longer and hotter than seasoned logs, making them ideal for log burners, wood-burning stoves and a wide range of other uses.
6. How Should I Store My Barrow Bag of Logs?
The logs should be removed from the barrow bag and stored in an appropriate location. Kiln-dried logs require a dry, indoor space with minimal humidity or an outdoor log store that is both covered and well ventilated.
Whether you’re storing your kiln-dried logs indoors or outdoors, we recommend stacking them in a crisscross pattern for better airflow and stability, ensuring they’re elevated off the ground to reduce moisture build-up.
7. What Are the Benefits of Buying a Barrow of Logs?
Our kiln-dried log barrow bags are incredibly convenient, especially for smaller homes where space is limited or access is narrow. They’re also a great option if you’re looking for a smaller quantity of logs. All our barrow bags include free local delivery to Sheffield, Chesterfield and the Hope Valley.
8. How Long Does a Barrow Bag of Logs Last?
How long your barrow bag of logs lasts will depend on how often you use your wood-burning stove or light a fire:
- If you use your appliance or fireplace once or twice a week, your barrow bag might last up to 6 weeks.
- If you use your appliance or fireplace every day, your barrow bag will likely only last around 1 or 2 weeks.
- More frequent usage or multiple fireplaces/appliances means you might get less than a week from one barrow bag.
9. Are Your Barrow Bags Ready to Burn Certified?
Yes, all our kiln-dried firewood at Westdale Logs is Ready to Burn certified with a moisture content below 20%. However, typically the moisture content is slightly lower than this, usually around 18%. Because we are Ready to Burn certified, this means the logs in our barrow bags can be legally burnt following Air Quality Regulations and can be used in Smoke Control areas such as Sheffield, Chesterfield and Buxton near the Peak District.
10. Where Do You Deliver Your Barrow Bags of Logs To?

Our compact barrow bags can easily be delivered to homes with narrow access or passageways due to their size.
