FireFuel Boxes FAQs

1. How Big Are Your Boxes?

Our bulk bags are approximately 23 x 23 x 40cm.

2. What Size Are the Logs in the Bulk Bag?

Our kiln-dried oak and hardwood logs are roughly 8 inches in length. They are suitable for a wide range of uses, including wood-burning stoves, multi-fuel stoves, fireplaces, firepits and pizza ovens.

3. What Types of Wood Are Available in a Box?

We offer both our popular mix of hardwood and our premium oak logs in cost-effective boxes.

4. What Are Kiln-Dried Logs?

Kiln-dried logs have been dried in a heated, temperature-controlled kiln, rather than left to air dry naturally like seasoned logs. The kiln-drying process reduces the moisture content in the logs to below 20%, which helps the firewood burn hotter and for longer.

5. Why Choose Kiln-Dried Logs Over Seasoned Firewood?

Kiln-dried firewood is the gold standard for log burners, wood-burning stoves and a wide range of other uses. The kiln-drying process results in a much lower moisture content, which produces a much higher heat output, less smoke and a more efficient burn. Seasoned logs tend to burn for a shorter time, meaning you need to use more of them to produce the same amount of heat.

6. How Should I Store My Boxes of Logs?

Ideally you should store them somewhere dry. In the easy to stack boxes that could be inside near your stove or fireplace, or possibly in an outhouse or shed/

7. What Are the Benefits of Buying Boxes of Logs?

When you buy a box of logs you eliminate the plastic packaging helping our environment. They're easy to stack and store, carry around...even one handed and pick off the ground.

8. Are Boxes Ready to Burn Certified?

Yes, all our kiln-dried firewood at Westdale Logs is Ready to Burn certified with a moisture content below 20%. However, typically the moisture content is slightly lower than this, usually around 18%. Ready to Burn certification means the logs in our Boxes can be burnt in compliance with Air Quality Regulations and can be used in Smoke Control areas such as Sheffield, Chesterfield and Buxton close to the Peak District.
